Set up IPTV on Nvidia Shield TV

Nvidia Shield is one of the best devices for IPTV — fast, stable, runs TiviMate beautifully out of the box. Here's the setup with your provider's credentials.

Step-by-step setup

Follow the steps in order. The full setup takes 4 min.

  1. 1

    Have your IPTV credentials ready

    Your IPTV provider will send you an M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials (server URL, username, password) by email after you subscribe. Have those details on hand before starting.

    Install TiviMate from Google Play

    Shield home screen → Google Play Store → search 'TiviMate IPTV Player' → install. The free version works for most use cases.

    Add Xtream Codes credentials

    Launch TiviMate → Add playlist → Login with Xtream Codes. Paste the server URL, username and password from your welcome email.

  4. 4

    Choose 4K-friendly settings

    Settings → Playback → Player → ExoPlayer. Settings → Playback → Hardware decoding → ON. This unlocks proper 4K HDR + Dolby Vision pass-through.

  5. 5

    Configure remote shortcuts

    In TiviMate: Settings → Playback → Remote control. Map the four colour buttons to EPG, Favorites, Channels and Settings for fast navigation.

    Start watching

    Back to the channel list. Press OK on a channel to start. Long-press OK for fast info, hold down for EPG.

Troubleshooting

  • Buffering on Wi-Fi

    Use the gigabit Ethernet port on the back of the Shield. Direct cable removes 80% of variance vs Wi-Fi.

  • Stutter on 4K HDR channels

    Settings → Playback → Buffer size → 30 sec. Also confirm your internet connection is delivering 50+ Mbps via a speedtest.
